Medical Education at Southern Medical

Teaching Medical Students and GP Trainees

At our practice, we have a strong tradition of teaching medical students and GP trainees. We are an accredited teaching practice for the Faculties of Medicine at the University of Wollongong and Sydney University. This means that medical students spend weeks at a time in our practice, working alongside our doctors and learning about family medicine.

Consent for Medical Students

Before a medical student is present during your consultation, we will ask for your consent. This is entirely optional, and where appropriate, your consent will help us to educate our doctors of the future.

Training GPs

We also train GPs in the final stages of their supervised GP experience. Drs Sparkes, Hamdan, Ashley and Watson all began their work with us as Registrars in this excellent program.
